Patriotism

Well who would have thought a septuagenarian from Leicester would have me moist? I had a tear in my eye watching The Hump’s rehearsal just now. It’s beautifully stage, with the spotlight picking out first the guitarist then Engelbert before the dancers are added subtly from the second verse. It looks great and he sounds great for the most part. There are a few minor issues about the big note and he was slightly off the beat in the last chorus, but this is nothing that can’t be ironed out before the night. Very, very good indeed. I just wish he had a later draw. I’m seldom patriotic at Eurovision; for me it’s all about who has the best song, but I am flying my flag with enthusiasm this year!
