Would love to see Portugal through, and Netherlands (hate the song and the headdress, but RESPECT to them for soldiering on), I think both will score well with judges but not televote, Lithuania and Georgia being the reverse of that. The bottom 4 haven't got a prayer I feel, though I may be underestimating Croatia.
Will there ever be any talk of letting through to the final a few countries that have been left out the longest? I wonder how long the Netherlands will keep coming if they miss out every single year.
Off the back of getting 9/10 right in Semi 1, and the 10th qualifier as my "11th", I'm doubting I'm going to do as well in this semi.
The qualifiers, in decreasing order of likelihood: Serbia Sweden Turkey Ukraine Norway Bosnia-Herzegovina Slovenia Georgia Estonia Croatia
Then missing out are: FYR Macedonia Portugal Slovakia Netherlands Belarus Malta Lithuania Bulgaria
Until recently I had Slovakia as a qualifier, just because it is so different from the endless ballads in this semi. I've been persuaded by the various blogs to push it out of contention - but (even though I don't like rock) would love to see Slovakia qualify one day!
This semifinal got a strong geopolitical group. So, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Macedonia will enter ALL of them even rhe quality of music is poor. Maybe a common front of the non-balcanic countrys will change the balance.
Those leaked results rumours come out every year, and are always false (except for in 2005 when the real semi results leaked). The EBU keep the results very secret and I find the suggestion that someone in a hotel in Baku obtained the results very implausible!
I'm sure the grannies did win the Semi Final, but find it very hard to believe Greece would be in second place. We'll see....
I wouldn't say that all rumours in the past have been false. Last year word got out that in the first semi final Lithuania won the jury vote and Greece won the televote - rather implausible at first, but eventually proven to be correct. Considering how well dire Greek songs in recent years have fared, especially Giorgos Alkaios with his cheap Opa song in 2010, Eleftheria coming second does seem (scarily) plausible to me.
I predict following finalists:
ReplyDeleteBelarus
Estonia
FYR Macedonia
The Netherlands
Norway
Serbia
Slovenia
Sweden
Turkey
Ukraine
From Latvia...
My prediction...
ReplyDelete1. Serbia
2. Turkey
3. Ukraine
4. Sweden
5. Macedonia
6. Norway
7. Malta
8. Bosnia and Herzegovina
9. Slovenia
10. Estonia
Missing out in this order...
11. Lithuania
12. Netherlands
13. Georgia
14. Portugal
15. Slovakia
16. Croatia
17. Belarus
18. Bulgaria

If there's any justice Netherland will qualify tonight. Its such a good song and should be fully supported by the west. I cross my fingers for Joan <3
